If you…

…would like more support toward your own Playing Bigger
…would like a space to deepen your integration of what you are learning in the Playing Big book
…would like an accountability partner who can help hold you to action commitments and keep you moving forward
…want to do facilitated, individual work around any of the Playing Big topics

Playing Big individual coaching is here to give you that additional layer of support.

HOW IT WORKS

With the guidance of your coach, you will clarify your personal values and the beliefs you hold about playing bigger, both empowering and limiting. You will also explore what is challenging you in your own Playing Big journey right now, and consciously choose your way forward. You will walk away from this session with greater focus and tools to invite the change you seek.

Coaching sessions will address “your agenda” — what you want to get out of the call. For example, you might say, “I have been procrastinating on really moving forward on my book project, and I want to stop that.” Or you might say, “The inner critic chapter of Playing Big was so big for me — I want to delve further into the role the critic is still playing in my life and what I can do about it.” In short, the topic for each coaching session, and coaching as a whole, will be shaped by what you most want to get out of the coaching.

Coaching is about having a professionally trained person help you access your own answers, shift from stuck to unstuck, or find clarity where there is confusion. It is also about having an ally, a thinking partner, and a champion to help you take a leap, make a change, or play bigger.

Coaching is not advising, consulting or mentoring. It is not about having another person tell you what they think you should do. It is also different from traditional therapy in that it is not a good fit for working through major trauma or healing mental health issues. In coaching, there is also less focus on the past and more focus on the present and future.

The coaching you’ll receive with our resident coach, Gretchen Remmers, is unique because Gretchen’s approach weaves in the Playing Big tools, concepts and framework. You can read more about Gretchen in her bio below.

Coaching sessions take place by phone, Zoom or Skype. The package is for three sessions and you can use the coaching sessions anytime within 3 months of purchase. We recommend that you choose a coaching schedule of one session per week, or one every other week, to get the most out of your coaching experience.

OUTCOMES OF PLAYING BIG INDIVIDUAL COACHING

The outcomes of Playing Big Individual Coaching will vary according to the goals and desire you are bringing into coaching. Here are some of the specific ways coaching can be of support to you on your Playing Big journey:

  • You will clarify your focus area or project, if you are still feeling uncertain or ambivalent about it.
  • You will accelerate your process of becoming your internal mentor and bringing her wisdom into your life.
  • You will become more skilled at managing the inner critic and quieting its voice.
  • You will work through any challenges you are having with the Playing Big concepts, and deepen your understanding through real-life application and exploration.
  • You will get into greater forward action with your playing big focus: your coach will work with you to create practical action plans, help you overcome obstacles, and serve as a supportive source of accountability.

GRETCHEN SAYS:

I have an unshakable trust in women’s leadership and in the power of the Playing Big tools to change the way we see ourselves and the action we take. As a coach, I’ll be your thought partner, holding space for your exploration, gently challenging your assumptions and joyfully celebrating your bold moves.

I firmly believe that when we lead from authenticity and make choices that are aligned with our wisdom, we create powerful, positive ripples throughout our families and our communities. This is precisely how we’ll change the world we live in.

HERE’S WHAT HER CLIENTS SAY:

From the first sessions with Gretchen, I was astounded and blessed to realize how good she is at this. She is a safe, completely nonjudgmental sounding board, and asks the most insightful questions. At various times in my life, I have worked with therapists, and never have I had the kind of breakthroughs, in thinking and action, that I have realized from this work with Gretchen.

It is because she is fiercely compassionate and professional when wearing her coach hat, that I have been able to ask more of myself while being kinder with myself. And Gretchen always brings “beginner’s mind” to her coaching work, knowing that she is a mediator, not an expert, and can learn while guiding.

I know that any person, organization or conference that considers Gretchen will be lucky to have her, and will benefit, as I have, from her sensitive and intelligent approach to being of service to others.
~ Kel Gennert, Commissioned Artist

Gretchen has been an amazing catalyst for me. I experienced such a profound shift in perspective on a situation that has bothered me for a very long time and now feel liberated to look at it from a completely different perspective. Gretchen listens so well and asks such insightful questions that get me out of old patterns and spark new empowering associations. Thank you!
~ Christina Nesheva, Co-founder and Operations Director, Hive Innovation Unit, ViiV Healthcare

Working with Gretchen as my coach has been a very rewarding, productive and valuable experience. I highly recommend Gretchen to other women who are looking to step into a bigger, more meaningful game in their work. Gretchen has a deeply rooted presence which gives her access to powerful, wise questions. Each time we spoke there was no doubt that she was giving me her complete attention and energy – what a gift! Gretchen helped me to uncover pesky strategies I’d been unaware of and using to stay stuck in fear and uncertainty. She also helped me to find the words, the authentic articulation of what I truly want to create in my work as well as the place to begin. Her questions and coaching made simple steps clear and visible and I’m now on my way to bringing a key project to life. Gretchen is a highly professional and skilled coach and she cares deeply about the success of her clients.
~ Laura McCafferty PCC, Principal at Inspired Coaching & Development

Gretchen’s coaching is worth its weight in gold. Before coaching I had several areas of my career and personal/professional development that I wanted to attend to but felt stuck. Gretchen’s coaching was invaluable to help me reveal my “why” and shift my thought-process to realize the answers are always within me.

Gretchen’s coaching and guidance empowered me to tap into my inner wisdom, recognize positive and non-productive behaviors, and take exciting risks and leaps of faith with confidence that have transformed me to be my authentic self. This tremendously changed how I show up mentally and physically to see results in all of my relationships in my life everyday at work, at home, with my family, and myself.
